If you would like to study in the USA, your international office is the first place to go to for questions – they are happy to let you know about the variety of study abroad and funding opportunities available to you.

Internship at the ConRuhr Office, New York

 

ConRuhr USA is currently accepting applications from students with a background in communications/ marketing/ international relations, and/or a background in web design/ graphic arts. Internships are from 1-3 months and take place in our New York City office,  March 2008 - March 2009.

If you are selected we will work together with you to design a project plan that matches your interests and skills. The majority of activities would focus around your choice of one of the following projects:

  • Project A: Graphic Design - Assistance with the redesign of ConRuhr's marketing materials, and the development of a 'Ruhr story' brochure. Applicants for this project should have strong skills in the area of graphic design (Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop). Internet knowledge is a plus (Html, CMS, flash).
  • Project B: Concept Development - Assistance with Internet research and the development of a conceptual platform to add new people to the Ruhr Friends and Alumni Network. Applicants for this project should have strong organizational and communication skills, and like creative projects. You would help us to contact professors in the Ruhr area via email, to let them know about ConRuhr, and would brainstorm with us to develop fun strategies for spreading the word, in the Ruhr Area, about ConRuhr's services. Fluency in German is required for this project.
  • Project C: Event Coordination -  Assistance with coordinating ConRuhr's events, workshops, and conferences, and brainstorming for new events. Applicants for this project should have good organizational skills and experience with project management. Experience with fundraising and grant/ proposal writing is a plus. 

Please note that internships are unpaid and that you would need to find your own accommodation in new york. The average cost for accommodation is $600 per month (room in a shared apartment). The purpose of the internship is to provide international resume-building experience and to increase your knowledge and network.  You will be able to join us at our meetings with important German and American officials, and would have the chance to further your skills in your area of choice.

The internship would take place 4 days per week, 9am-5pm. The remainder of the week is reserved so that you are free to explore New York & American Culture. Recommendations for cultural tours will be provided and two (optional) tours will be paid for by ConRuhr.
